Access to www.brainonline.com is given ONLY from 1 September 2021. The exams are made available through the student’s personal profile on www.brainonline.com according to the fixed examination timetable issued by Brainline.

4.

Final examination

The final examination/s are downloaded, printed, completed and uploaded from home, under the supervision of an independent invigilator according to the examination protocols set by Brainline.

5.

Receive a report

The Brainline final report can be downloaded in December 2021. Exams are set and moderated in line with the requirements of the CAPS curriculum for Gr 1–7, and the IEB for Gr 8–12

Grade 1-3

Enrolment period

Examination period

The examinations are scheduled according to a timetable, which is available to download from www.brainonline.com. The examination begins at the end of October 2021. *These dates are subject to change

Report

The learner’s report will be available to download from brainONLINE.com in December 2021.

Grade 1 – 3 REPORT-2-GO option includes:
  • Year-end access to the IEB-aligned subject content resources, for use in preparation for the final examinations, including
    • All recorded teaching sessions/lessons;
    • Content resources (such as notes, PowerPoint presentations, videos, additional past papers);
  • A fixed year-end examination timetable for the learner’s chosen subjects which:
    • must be written on the prescribed dates and times;
    • must be submitted via the learner management portal (brainonline.com);
    • will be marked by Brainline
  • A Brainline-accredited year-end Report-2-Go report

Please take note that year-end examinations that are missed for whatever reason cannot be rewritten on an alternative date or time during the November exam session.

Terms and conditions:

  1. Compulsory submission of the learner’s academic record for the previous grade, and his/her latest 2021 academic report and learner portfolio relevant to the grade for which is being enrolled. In this case, the SBA mark (year mark) may be used together with the marks obtained in the Brainline 2021 final examinations. The inclusion of the current SBA marks will be at the discretion of the Brainline Academic Team, based on the submitted portfolio of work.
  2. Client enrolment to brainonline.com 2021 will only be issued from 1 September 2021.
  3. The full examination fee is required upon enrolment.
  4. No refunds will be processed upon a cancellation request after approval of the enrolment.

The learner’s report will be available to download from brainONLINE.com in December 2021.

The Grade 8 – 9 REPORT-2-GO option includes:
  • Early access to the compulsory Oral Assessments that need to be completed and submitted for marking by Brainline, in both the selected Home Language and First Additional Language;
  • Early access to the compulsory PATs that need to be completed and submitted for marking by Brainline in relevant subjects;
  • Year-end access to the IEB-aligned subject content resources, for use in preparation for the final examinations, including
    • All recorded teaching sessions/lessons;
    • Content resources (such as notes, PowerPoint presentations, videos, additional past papers);
  • A fixed year-end examination timetable for the learner’s chosen subjects which:
    • must be written on the prescribed dates and times;
    • must be submitted via the learner management portal (brainonline.com);
    • will be marked by Brainline
  • A Brainline-accredited year-end Report-2-Go report.
    • The report is composed of marks from the compulsory
      • Oral assessments;
      • PATs in relevant subjects; and
      • year-end exams which, depending on the subject (e.g. Computer Application Technology), may include a practical examination all of which will be marked by Brainline.

  9. Failure to submit an Oral or PAT (for whatever reason), will mean that the subject will not be resulted. In essence, this means that no mark will appear on the report for such a subject – in essence, the learner will have failed the subject.
  10. In order to fulfil the requirements for a valid report, the outstanding Oral or PAT assessments will need to be submitted (along with a late submission fee) by 15 January of the following year.
  11. Year-end examinations that are missed for whatever reason cannot be rewritten on an alternative date or time during the November exam session.
  12. In order to fulfil the requirements for a valid report, the outstanding examinations will need to be written during the Supplementary Exam session in the following January. A set timetable (alternative dates are not possible) for such exams is made available by mid-December, allowing enrolment for such exam(s) at the set fee.
  13. Upon submission of all outstanding components for a subject and the scheduled marking thereof, an updated report will be made available to the learner by the end of February.

Grade 10-11
