Brainline is registered with the IEB and therefore uses an IEB-aligned curriculum – complying with the statutory requirements of the CAPS curriculum while adapting the content and assessment to focus on critical and creative thinking, and problem solving rather than rote learning. The programme consists of a day-to-day, scheduled programme that allows your child to be actively involved in developing their skills in the prescribed learning areas.
The lessons and resources contain clear guidelines, enabling you as the parent/guardian to guide your child through the required themes.
The programme content is available as printed, full colour, theme based modules via Credo Books, or as printable ebooks via Snapplify.
Mid-year and Year-end Formal Assessment activities, marked by subject specialists, are included. Your child will receive a valid report.
Must be downloaded and completed under the supervision of an invigilator that you register with Brainline, which may be the parent.
Once completed, these must be uploaded to Brainline’s online learning platform, after which it will be marked by experienced subject specialists.
Enrolment is open all year. Can be completed at your own pace.
Completion of the preceding grade is recommended.
Brainline’s Grade 1–3 programme consists of a fully integrated, day-to-day, scheduled programme that allows your child to be actively involved in developing their skills in the prescribed learning areas. The lessons and resources contain clear guidelines, enabling you as the parent/guardian to guide your child through the required themes.
Self-assessment items are included. You, the parent/guardian, will decide when your child should complete these items, and you are responsible for assessing the items according to the marking guidelines provided.
This programme includes a Mid-year and Year-end Formal Assessment Series.
These must be downloaded from your child’s online profile on brainONLINE. Once completed, the assessment documents must be scanned and loaded onto Brainline’s online learning platform, brainONLINE, by the due date. Please keep a copy for future reference.
Formal assessment is an ideal opportunity to externally assess your child’s progress. He/she will receive a Brainline report, serving as evidence of your child’s CAPS-compliant assessment and academic record for future academic prospects.
According to the Draft Policy on Home Education, a parent/guardian may set his/her own promotion and retention requirements, provided these are equal to or exceed the standard requirements as determined by the national promotion criteria.
